Friday night we saw the defending state champs Cardinal Mooney take on up and coming Somerset Canyon Cougars in the first round of 2A FHSAA playoffs. The contest for the most part was controlled by Mooney who scored on the first play of the game with a bomb to Junior Kymistrii Young which was followed with multiple touch down runs from Connail Jackson and Devin Mignery. However, Somerset made sure to not go down without a fight were we saw exceptional play calling with plays like the Philly special drawn out for Senior Jayden Harrington and Two deep ball plays to Sophomore Dereion Darby to keep the game close. But ultimately, Mooney's offense and stout defense that features four star players Elijah Golden and Da'ron Parks proved too much for Somerset. The defending state champs advances to the next round of the playoffs were they face King's Academy (Another Palm Beach County team) in what should be a great second round Contest.
